Nipsey Hussle “Victory Lap” Review

Nipsey Hussle is a West Coast rapper hailing out of Los Angeles. He has been active in the  mainstream industry since 2010. He has notably been in the news for dating Lauren London, and creating jobs in his home area of LA. The Crenshaw bred rapper has been an active mixtape rapper and just released his first studio album on February 16. The title of the album is a culmination of his Marathon theme. From the first listen you are enthralled by the beat selection and lyrical presence Hussle brings to you.

Automatically you know that this album was made meticulously. It was executively produced and composed by the Legendary Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs.

The mix of gangsta rap vibes and consciousness come together in perfect harmony from the rapper. He mentions Dr. Sebi who was a holistic doctor said to have cured the HIV virus, to Rick Ross for trying to teach wealth to the youth. He enlists some A list talent such as The-Dream and Ceelo Green to local west coast guys such as Teeflii and Buddy to help out.

Standouts on this album for me are Victory Lap, the title track as well as the intro featuring Stacy Barthe. Rap Niggas, which was a single released before the album. As well as Blue Laces 2 which is a continuation song from his 2010 mixtape “The Marathon.”
