“Rags” EP Music Review

This dynamic hip-hop duo not only stand out from the Atlanta “Trap-Rap” sound, but also delivered a well organized project. Johnny Venus and Doctur Dot, releasing their third EP with Spillvillage, but their first EP as Dreamville’s new signees. Earthgang gives us Rags EP.

With features from Chicago artist, Mick Jenkins, Atlanta’s very own producer and music artist, Childish Major, and fellow Atlanta emcee, J.I.D., Earthgang came with an enriching southern hip-hop sound, that vividly paints a descriptive story outlining the stress, patience, and dedication through personal life experiences, all while embracing the process within the music industry of Atlanta. Track two, on the EP, Nowhere Fast ft. Childish Major, really stood, bringing significane to the entire project.

Johnny Venus lyrically defines the true hippcups that may transpire through achiving your progression as an artist stifling pass the pressure, really capturing the course of the EP.

Young Fly narrating, over a soul-funkful production as the lift driver, Earthgang pays homage to Atlanta’s hard working citizens who want to see their visions through til the end. Rags EP acknowledged the boundless achievements promoting beauty in the struggle. The Rags EP came with a strong impressionable delivery from both Johnny Venus and Doctur Dot. Proceeded with great wordplay, and catchy lyricism that binds the essential meaning of a tough grind, all while stamping their mark as Dreamville’s newest members.
