Tyler the Creator’s long awaited album ‘Scum-Fuck Flower Boy’ was leaked Sunday night, July 11th. However, an incredible track list featuring artists such as A$AP Rocky, Jaden Smith, Frank Ocean, and Estelle, wasn’t the only news leaked. The internet is buzzing over a couple choice lines from two of the tracks on the album.
“Next line will have ‘em like ‘woah’/ I been kissing white boys since 2004” from his song “I Ain’t Got Time,” have many reeling, assuming the young rapper is coming out as gay.
The line is spoken on a very frantic, and turbulent track, in which Tyler displays his rapping talent through multiple flows on two different variations of the vibrant beat. On another one of the tracks titled “Garden Shed” featuring Estelle, Tyler raps about the idea of forbidden love, and of those close to him not knowing there was something he was keeping inside.
Tyler rapped, “That was real love I was in, ain’t no reason to pretend. All my friends was lost. They couldn’t read the signs. I didn’t want to talk. I tell ‘em my location and they ain’t want to walk.”
Fans are now digging up some of Tyler’s old tweets, believing they were hints.
The album, Tyler announced last week, was not set to drop until July 21st, after revealing the cover art and track list, as well as dropping two hit tracks, “Who Dat Boy” featuring A$AP Rocky, and “911/Mr. Lonely” featuring Frank Ocean. The Golf Wang creator hasn’t yet appeared on social media to address or comment on the leak or notion the album was his way of “coming out,” but it being Tyler, it surely won’t be long ‘till his thoughts surface.
Despite the seemingly condemning evidence, Tyler the Creator is the ultimate jokester, a star troll in the music world. Not just that, but he could very easily just be putting himself in another’s shoes, speaking from another’s perspective. After all, one of his most admirable attributes is his ability to think objectively. Tyler has grown astonishingly as a person and artist over the last few years, blooming like a flower. ‘Scum-Fuck Flower Boy’ is a fitting title.
