In just four short months after his debut EP release, “I Was Bullshittin”, Big Papa Mood delivers yet another astounding project with his Father’s Day release, “Bachelor Dad”. These eight tracks really embodied a Detroit bachelor’s life experience, as Papa Mood exerts a mellow, abrupt, and subtle delivery, vocally manipulating this mixtape. The young 26 year old music artist constructs verses that are dead ringers towards the tempo of the production. This production asserts well layered piano keys and high tempo drum kicks which are credited to vybeBeatz, AdasyBeats, The Beat Plug, Yondo, and KIN MB13 Beatz. Papa Mood illustratively raps the life of a recently singled father, who misplaced himself trying to make a past relationship work for alternative reasons. Papa Mood explains how he lost his focus due to putting others before himself, and begins to question who he is when it relates to the complexity of his vision and ability to create music. Further into this mixtape, “Bachelor Dad”, he reinvents and elevates himself into someone who flirts on almost every occasion, while still maintaining balance in his music career and continuing to be a great father. Papa Mood’s lyrical cadence was gracefully showcased over two classic samples from the nineties, “So Right” which is a sample from Sade 1992 “Kiss of Life”, and “Lonely” ft. B. Johnson & MELOWOOD sampled from Janet Jackson’s 1997 hit “I Get Lonely”. These songs transformed the quality of the original tracks and beats to make a lasting impression; written & sung with passion and emotion. Other tracks such as “4 Digits” and “Foolish”, present a low tempo instrumental, with a phlegmatic flow that will prove to be a rousing showcase of Papa Mood’s talent.
The context of this project perceives its title. “Bachelor Dad” arrays great percussion rhythms, polysyllabic rhyming within the lyrics, all while setting a platform for a strong toned, eccentric deliverance throughout the mixtape.
