Black Male Found Innocent And Still Sentenced To Jail

Yet again, a story that we have come to know all too well. Ramad Chatman of Rome, Georgia is now serving time for a crime that he did not commit.

After being accused of robbing a local convenience store, Chatman voluntarily went to the authorities thinking that once he proved his innocence, he’d be free to go. However, Chatman was taken into custody. During his trial the jury found him innocent, however the judge did not agree.

Events like this are what lead to the creation of the Black Lives Matter movement. Although people often downplay the movement as racist or ignorant, it’s only purpose is to bring light to injustices that black people face. Chatman’s situation is prime example of said injustices.
