Last night the Billboard Music Awards, was a night to remember for Toronto’s own Drake. Not only did he deliver an unforgettable performance, but he took home 13 trophies in honor of his hard-work for both projects: Views and More Life.
The top artist of the night collected 13 awards last night: Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Tour, Top Rap Album, Top Streaming Song (Audio), Top R&B Song, and Top R&B Collaboration.
By taking home 13 awards in one night, Drake won a victory of beating Adele’s all-time record for the most awards given in one single evening, back in 2012 when she won 12 awards in one night. Drake has now joined the group of phenomenal musicians, which is only a total of 4: Whitney Houston, Usher, Adele, and now Drake. Also, making him the only hip-hop artist in music history to do so. People can say what they want to say about Drake, but he’s doing better than all of their favorite rappers and singers: killing charts worldwide, dropping number one albums, and collecting the most awards in one night making history. Give credit where it’s due, and credit is definitely due here. A big round of applause for Drizzy for giving the world two great projects back-to-back in a year span. We at Jetlag are proud of Drake and all that he has accomplished. We know this is just the beginning and there is so much more in stored from the 13 times winner. Congratulations, Drake, keep making history!
