On Monday (May 15) Desiigner made his first time ever appearance on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club. He dished on people comparing him to Future, being arrested, and collaborating with Kanye West.
Not even a minute into the interview Charlamagne Tha God went in on Desiigner never stopping by and finally deciding to do so, because his fame is starting to wear off. Desiigner denied it being his reasoning by saying, “Nah son, it was just, you know, it was a moment with the speed, I just had a lot of things going on, man. I just had to come back and support the album with my family.”
When Desiigner first came out he was being played all on stations from left to right with his smash hit “Panda,” which went to number one. But before it began topping the charts, Kanye West got a hold of it and sampled it for one of his popular tracks from The Life of Pablo, called “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2”. This came about, because he is officially signed to G.O.O.D Music alongside Kanye, Teyana Taylor, and a huge roster of other rap artists. He said labels were tugging at him left-to-right trying to sign him after his first single started blowing up, so to settle things a bit, he chose G.O.O.D Music as his home.
When asked about Future comparisons he said, “I heard his music, he makes beautiful music.” But he doesn’t think he sounds like Future. He also indicated that he’s much more of a fan of Travis Scott, “ultra-fan” is what he said.
Desiigner said his album is set to be released in July, but he didn’t give a specific date. To see the full interview, you can view the clip down below.
