Jetlag caught up with Camoney Grand for the Flight of the Week.
Born and raised in Spartanburg, SC Camoney Grand started rapping at age 12. He dropped his first mixtape at 16 when he found out he had a baby on the way. He decided sports wasn’t an option so he pursued music seriously.
His friend Que Sparks got him enrolled in the Art Institute in Atlanta, but one summer home he got into some legal trouble.
Camoney Grand then built an independent label called CME (Carolina Money Empire). He has recently changed it to Change Makers Everywhere 1000. He opened his own studio, and is managing his own artists as well. His next album is entitled 1000 Laws of Power. Right now he is pushing his last album Justifiable Means.
Camoney Grand over the years has worked on pushing and recording numerous artists in the upstate. He has also started a community service organization called the 1K family that periodically do trash clean ups in impoverished areas. An artist from the streets and for the streets Camoney Grand is truly a legend in his own rights.
