PJ Dozier signs with agent, likely ending his time at South Carolina

South Carolina sophomore guard P.J Dozier will stay in the NBA Draft after hiring an agent, first reported by Yahoo Sports. 

This decision comes just a week after reports surfaced that Dozier would declare for the NBA draft. His decision to hire an agent means that Dozier will forgo his final two years of eligibility with the Gamecocks.

In the 2015-16 season, Dozier averaged 6.7 points as a reserve and occasional starter. Down the stretch of the season, Dozier was a key part in the Gamecocks’ rotation and helped lead the Gamecocks to a 25 win season and a birth in the NIT.

This past season, Dozier improved his scoring to 13.9 points per game, trailing SEC Player of the Year Sindarius Thornwell for the team lead. He helped propel the Gamecocks to a program best 26 wins and a birth in the Final Four for the first time in program history. In the tournament, he averaged 15.6 points per game and shot over 50 percent from the field.

Dozier is currently a projected second-round pick, according to Yahoo Sports.
