Mississippi State just delivered the BIGGEST upset of the year, shattering UConn’s perfect record in overtime. Mississippi State’s, Morgan William, standing at only 5’5, nailed a last second shot in overtime to lead the Bulldogs to their first ever National Championship appearance.
The UConn Huskies were 111-0 coming into Friday night’s Final Four game, not having lost a game since 2014. They beat the Bulldogs last year in the Sweet Sixteen by 60 points, and tonight Morgan William and her team got a sweet taste of revenge.
UConn had the ball for a last second shot but rushed a play and turned the ball over, giving Mississippi State a chance to win with 12 seconds left on the clock. Morgan William had just missed a game winning shot at the end of regulation but was still determined to have this last shot. This time, she did not disappoint miss.
Mississippi State will face USC in the National Championship game Sunday, April 2 at 6pm. This will be both Mississippi State’s and USC’s first appearance in the National Championship.
