Rihanna attends BET Black Girls Rock where she was honored April 5, 2016

Accomplishment after accomplishment, that Rihanna reign just won’t let up. Since the release of her eighth album Anti, Rihanna has broken numerous records: fastest album to go platinum in 15 hours, only artist to have 100 million songs certified, recipient of Black Girls Rock & Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, first woman to win ‘Shoe of the Year’ with Fenty Puma Creepers, and now she’s being honored the 2017 Harvard University Humanitarian of the Year award.

Due to Rihanna’s outstanding profit created in 2012 from the Clara and Lionel Foundation Scholarship Program, which she named after her grandmother (Clara Brathwaite) and grandfather (Lionel Brathwaite), she earned the achievement to be this year’s recipient. Rihanna has been an activist for education throughout the past couple of years in honor of young boys and girls from Caribbean countries to attend college universities here in the U.S. Rihanna has been a voice for the Global Citizen Festival as an advocate for education, worked conveniently to help raise awareness of the battle against HIV/AIDS, and is an ambassador in working with students in Malawi to further the CLF mission. This is an award that is definitely well deserved.

The Humanitarian award will be given to Rihanna 4 p.m. at Sanders Theater, Tuesday on February 28, 2017. Those that are part of the Harvard Community can get their tickets to the observance starting noon of that day. Congratulations, Rihanna!
