Joey Bada$$- “Land of the Free” Review

With anticipation of his second album growing Joey Bada$$, the face of Pro Era, released a politically charged song titled “Land of the Free” just hours before yesterday’s inauguration. This came with news that Bada$$ allegedly turned down an offer to perform at the inauguration which is surprising, not because the offer was turned down, but because our new president saw a purpose in sending the invite in the first place. As if it had a chance of being accepted by an artist who has openly spoken out against the Cheeto in Chief. Regardless, the Brooklyn born rapper was sure to give Trump a quick shout out in the new song with the line “Donald Trump is not equip to take this country over”, I guess that’s why they hit up 3 doors down as a backup. With recent releases of fast paced tracks like “Front & Center”, which would fit in on a playlist that features Future or 21 Savage, as well as records with a powerful message like this one, it can be difficult to predict the overall tone of the upcoming album. Either way, I see nothing but quality music coming from the young artist which has me counting down the days until his second album “AABA” is released.
